GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR GROVE - KCM CITRUS HARVESTING, MARKETING AND HAULING

Prior to the beginning of each fruit-growing season, we estimate the crop of each customer’s grove by the variety of the fruit. Based on that estimate, we establish a marketing plan. This involves maintaining constant contact with buyers for the processing plants and packing houses as well as monitoring the prices for fresh and processed fruit.

Depending on your available time and experience, you have the option of marketing the fruit yourself, or allowing us to do it for you by participating in our marketing pool.

Because of the volume of fruit we market, KCM tends to have more leverage than the individual grower, both in getting a better price for the fruit and in scheduling the harvesting on a timelier basis. Optimum harvest scheduling involves testing the fruit regularly to determine its quality and to arrange for the crews and equipment to harvest the fruit based upon the stage of maturity.

The income from the sale of your fruit, less marketing and harvesting costs, is paid to you in two or three monthly installments following the harvest date. Our citrus pools are finalized on or before July 30th each year.
